Puppies and Grief

This weekend in each of our snuggle sessions in Toronto we had people that came to us to help with grief. Some were coping with the loss of a family member and others were coping with the loss of a furry family member. Something we didn’t consider when we developed the 30 minute Snuggle Sessions was the obvious connection between grief and the healing energy of a puppy. Grief feels like an overwhelming tidal wave, puppies offer a calm shore. Their unconditional companionship creates a gentle presence that doesn’t judge or demand much but simply exists to comfort. Puppies have an innate way of sensing when you need them most, nestling close without words but with heartfelt understanding. Stroking their fur, feeling their warmth and hearing their little peeps acts like a balm on your heart. Puppies don’t rush healing, but they quietly help carry the weight, making each moment a little less daunting.

  • Nonjudgmental Presence: Puppies don’t critique your mood or demand explanations for tears, offering emotional safety without pressure. Their simple companionship affirms that it’s okay to feel whatever you’re feeling, creating a no-expectation zone where healing can begin.

  • Emotional Sensitivity: Puppies instinctively respond to emotional states, often becoming softer or more attentive during distress. This intuitive connection mirrors a comforting friendship that feels especially valuable during loss.

  • Mirror for Healing: Watching a puppy’s innocent joy can inspire hope that happiness will return, offering an emotional mirror that gently reflects the possibility of better days ahead.

  • Immediate Comfort Access: You can pet or hold a puppy during our 30 minute Snuggle Sessions, tapping into their warmth as a soothing balm for anxiety or sadness. The tactile connection itself calms the nervous system and builds emotional resilience over time.

We’ve kept pricing for the 30 minute Snuggle Sessions affordable at $25 hoping that it allows access to as many people as possible. Puppies don’t rush healing, but they quietly help carry the weight, making each moment a little less daunting.
